These industry sessions will include case studies, panel discussions and interviews with filmmakers. The sessions are primarily intended for emerging filmmakers and producers, but members of the public who are interested in understanding how business skills ensure a filmmakers’ passion makes it to the big screen will also find the sessions of interest.

10:00-10:45     RBC Business Affairs for the Emerging Filmmaker/Producer
This panel will focus on the producer’s role in considering the intricacies of legal, accounting, and insurance as they relate to production.

 

11:00-11:45      Taking your Passion to the Screen
This panel will delve into how to take a topic you care about and make it into a financially viable project.

 

12:00-12:45      A conversation with Sean Kaminsky, director of “Open Sesame: The Story of Seeds”

 

Lunch is included for Industry Pass holders.

 

1:00-1:45          Not Emerging Anymore. What’s the next Step?
You have made a few films, now the hard part begins. A discussion on how to build on this momentum to take your career to the next level.

 

2:00-2:45          Consult an Industry Expert
Pre-booked consultation sessions with industry experts.
Out of province guest presenters Sean Kaminsky (Open Sesame: The Story of Seeds) and Ryan McKenna (The First Winter) will be joined by Manitoba industry veterans, including Joanne Levy, Rachel Margolis, Iris Yudai, Kevin Nikkel, Sebastien Nasse, Cam Bennett and Mark Schollenberg.

 

3:00-3:45         New Work from the NFB!
Please join the NFB’s David Christensen, Alicia Smith and Leslie Stafford, as they showcase their new work in documentary, animation and interactive media, and talk about working with the NFB.

 

4:30-7:00       $10,000 Emerging Filmmaker Competition
5 finalists compete for the grand prize in the $10,000 Emerging Filmmaker Competition. (Gimli Theatre)
